oma revealed a new project in the making by ole scheeren, one of firm’s associates: the interlace. a large-scale complex of interconnected apartment buildings stacked in an innovative hexagonal arrangement, it boasts 1,040 apartment units, divided over 31 apartment blocks that are stacked in a hexagonal arrangement. the interlocking blocks form a vertical village with cascading sky gardens and roof terraces.
additionally, the interlace project incorporates sustainability features through environmental analysis of sun, wind, and micro-climate conditions on site and the integration of low-impact passive energy strategies. construction of the interlace is scheduled to start in 2010. location: gillman heights, southern singapore
