On view now at Stephen Daiter (311 W Superior) is “Barbara Crane: Private Views - Public Spaces,” an exhibition of the photographer’s Polaroids taken between 1980 and 1984 around the lakefront and outdoor festivals.
Faces play their crucial roles but Crane often gives equal or greater weight to the dialogues of other parts of the body - the dance of arms, legs and especially hands with their probing fingers – all conversing with mute eloquence in the public square.
